Hello! And welcome to the very first blog post of the NEW Positively Freckled, Visual Storyteller! I have been struggling for such a long time in my photography, if I'm being totally honest. I have always offered services that I thought everyone wanted or thought I was supposed to be doing. I have done everything very cookie cutter and nothing was ever my entire vision for fear it would be rejected. Something about covid has changed that for me. Not being able to work and photograph my clients made me start to shoot for myself so much more (which is why my kids are all over this new website!). It made me shoot exactly how I wanted to and let me work on my photography the way I wanted to. It made me want to tell the story of the family, and not just try and get at least one good smile. I feel like the fact that everyone has a decent camera on their phones, anyone can get one good smile out of a child. But to capture the story, to capture the season of life you are in right now, that is my goal. I want to give you a gallery of images that makes you want to hang them all on your wall! Photos that you look back on for years to come and remember how your toddler loved to be tickled, how your 5 year old still needed hugs after falling down, and how your husband looked at his family as his biggest accomplishment.
My dream has always been to photograph families in a way that is so much more than family portraits. I know so many people (myself included!) who don't enjoy getting their picture taken. SO many friends and family who say things like, "We definitely need updated portraits, it's been years, but I hate getting them done!" One thing I am so grateful for as a photographer with young children is I always have updated professional photos of my kiddos. As parents, we know how fast they grow and every month they are different little people!
Another part of my vision was making professional photography available for all families, no matter their budget. I was looking around on Instagram one day at children's toys (that we don't need) and I thought to myself, "Wow, these are definitely out of our price range." Then, I noticed that under the price, was a payment plan option that broke it down into four payments. That made such a difference in our ability to purchase the item and I thought, I'm sure this could help with my business as well! If families could make payments for their family photos, it would help those on a stricter budget!
My goal is to keep this blog updated with my latest work and I hope you enjoy the vision as much as I do! Here are the images I took of my two kiddos at the farm for a little cookies and milk 'tea' party in the woods and some good ol' tickling sessions!
