Sometime last year I watched the movie Christopher Robin. I know what you’re thinking…this blog post is titled “Alice”…just bear with me. I was so inspired by that film. Just the general aesthetic, the message, it was all so beautiful and gave me so many ideas. Then THE idea hit me. How cool would it be to do a shoot inspired by this movie with my kiddos. I loved this idea but before the movie ended, the idea grew much bigger. What if I do a session for every movie that was truly inspiring to me growing up using my kids as the models? They love these movies and could also be involved in the creative aspect of it. I started writing down movies that I love and if you couldn’t guess, Alice in Wonderland was one of them. I know many, many photographers have done movie shoots with their children but I wanted these to be different.
While some will have the kiddos dressed as actual characters (like Alice and the Hatter) others will simply be a shoot that have the aesthetic of the movie. I decided to do Alice first because I have all of the props (other sessions I’m still shopping for), had the perfect location for it, and I thought the kids would really get into this one. I was so right about that last part…Liam had so much fun and it was his idea to have him and his sister sitting on the tree. Evie loved being Alice and thought it was a lot of fun as well.
So here is the first of many sessions I am calling “The Storybook Sessions.” I hope you enjoy them as much as I do :) Also, at first, I put these images in a collage like I usually do with my blog posts, but they didn't have the same impact as they do when they're huge. I know it's a lot of images but...I'm so in love with this session :D
Now to pick which ones I'm going to print huge for my walls!
